Spring Break Activities

In the midst of all the recent activity world wide, many people have probably canceled their spring break plans. Some people may be hiding out in their homes, laying low to avoid coming in contact with COVID-19. Kids are likely restless, and many people are now wondering what to do as they have seen many local programs and events postponed until further notice.

While this nasty little virus poses reasons for concern, there is no reason to panic. Exercise caution when going out and about, wash your hands, limit or avoid contact with surfaces that are touched by many people, and stay home if you are feeling sick. Worrying accomplishes nothing, all it does is create stress. Find ways to have fun, exercise, eat healthy, and get outside.

Throughout my experience working in the recreation industry, I have planned numerous affordable programs and activities, here's some of my favorites. If you need more ideas, follow me on Pinterest. Check out the resource tab on this site for hiking suggestions in Colorado and Utah.

. Take a hike - Being outside is good for your health

. Scavenger Hunts - Find a list of things in nature, take photos, or come up with clues that could lead participants to a prize.

. Plant a Garden - March is the best time to plant lettuce, spinach, carrots, and peas

. Ride Bikes - Great for exercise and transportation.

. Get Crafty - Paint rocks, make wind chimes, build a birdhouse

. Science - There are many science experiments that can be set up using common household goods and recycled materials.

. Relay Races & Obstacle Courses - Set up some friendly competition in your backyard

. Walk your Dog - Take your furry friends with you when you walk or hike

. Sports - Play catch, toss a Frisbee, kick a ball, or make up a game

. Fashion Show - Gather items from your closet and assemble something silly
